Hard Work Does Pay Off! About Time!

The fall quarter has finally finished with my last final being last Saturday (December 16). Finals for all my classes were challenging, but I did better than I expected on them. I ended up getting an A in my Chicano/a Studies 1A course, A in Economics 118, and A- in Economics 185 for a GPA of 3.90!!! My highest GPA yet here at UCSB. I was only three points away from getting an A in my Economics 185 class, but I can’t complain. I worked very hard this quarter and it finally paid off. I am always told I study too much or I go above and beyond what is required, but that is just the way I am. I don’t do things half-ass (pardon my language). If I do things, I give it my all. And surely enough it shows. As for next quarter, I am planning to take so many classes including an upper-division computer science course which I will discuss in my next post later this week or next week along with the other classes I will be taking in the Winter 2007 quarter.

Currently, I am working on some scholarships. All of the essays I am working on require an essay, so I am working hard on those. I know, I know, this is how my holiday and school breaks are. I rest some, but then I get back to work. Attending a university is not an affordable expense. It requires a lot of money (which I think is way overpriced). Even if I win one scholarship out of all my submissions, I will be very proud of myself and satisfied. Any amount will help. There is no small amount. I was looking at my textbook prices for next quarter and they run on average $150USD per textbook per class. Is that ridiculously expensive or what?! So any amount even if it is to cover one textbook is plenty help.

During the fall quarter, I joined the Accounting Association at UCSB along with the Business Economics Association. These two associations help me interact with potential firms to work for after graduating and to learn more about what type of jobs are available for my major and the everyday life at an accounting firm.

I am nearly all set for the holidays. I shall give you an update of my holiday and plans for next quarter in my next post soon and provide some pictures I took with my phone and digital camera at Santa Barbara.
Hope everyone out there has a great 2006 holiday!

[EDIT] I have added a new theme to the site and added a snow effect to bring some holiday spirit to the site. Also I have finally fixed some of the coding errors so now the site passes the XHTML coding standards test.
